One Site. Two Design Narratives.
We are currently working on a high-end residential development in Malvern East, where two homes sit side by side, sharing the same architectural framework while exploring entirely different interior expressions.
Although the homes are identical in structure and scale, the interior design direction of each residence has been intentionally developed to tell it's own story.
One home embraces a lighter material palette. Soft tonal layering, warm neutrals, and natural materials work together to reflect light throughout the spaces, creating a calm and refined atmosphere.
The neighbouring residence takes a darker, more sculptural approach. Rich finishes, deeper tones, and a more dramatic palette introduce contrast and depth, allowing the architecture and materiality to feel more intimate and enveloping.
Same footprint.
Same architectural bones.
Two completely different spatial experiences.
Projects like this are a powerful reminder that interior design is rarely about trends. It is about the considered selection of materials, tones, and finishes, and how those decisions shape the way a home ultimately feels to live in.
Over the coming months, we will be sharing the evolution of both homes as they move from early material concepts through to completion.
If you are planning a renovation, new build, or simply want guidance refining the materiality and finishes within your home, we always welcome the opportunity to start a conversation.
Design often begins with a single idea.
These homes are being developed by Birch & Stone Developments and will be available for purchase once completed.
