Rustic Beach House Turned Chic

When it comes to luxury, this Australian beach house has it all: the charm of an old farmhouse and the polished elegance of a modern beach house.

Built by LVL Group and Triple Group, this property located on the Mornington Peninsula has been transformed into a chic entertainer’s paradise within the space of a year. With a full interior and exterior renovation by Twostyle, this home blends the best of both worlds, creating a relaxed family getaway that also feels like home.

From the moment you step through the front door, you’re in for something special. The grand living room is bright and airy with large windows that let in plenty of light. Wicker and timber furnishings aid the open-plan layout, creating space and encouraging a harmonious flow when you walk into each room.

We reframed from painting over the old timber ceiling beams since their maturity and roughness are what makes them so unique. By keeping the beams centre stage and adding in contemporary décor and fixtures below, we created a residence with the perfect blend of old meets new, generating warmth while paying homage to the home’s coastal heritage.

A custom-built kitchen, carefully designed to exude charm and functionality, faces the front of the home, overlooking lush greenery below. Stone benchtops, a Vintage-inspired basin with gold tapware, and custom joinery by Polytec evoke the simplicity and rustic aesthetic of farmhouse comfort.

The highlight of the kitchen and living area is the freshly painted white panelled walls and cabinetry which continue to run along the home’s interior. This panelling breathes life into a once dreary space, now transporting us to the coastal lifestyle you’d find in the Hamptons – dreamy and cosy.

Like all family homes, separate areas for relaxation and entertainment are a must. With the second living area upstairs, featuring a kids' retreat and further bedrooms, we decided to go for a minimalist approach with design and styling. Combining wooden furniture, textured fabrics, and infusing a warm palette of colours create softness to each room, complementing the sandy and sunny beaches that Rye has to offer.

The master bathroom glistens with stunning stone-coloured wall tiles by Massa Imports and a backlit curved mirror by Reece. Brushed brass fixtures and a round basin, thanks to ABI Interiors, tie this bathroom together to reveal an exquisite example of chic modernity. The combination of these sleek finishes and fixtures exudes a five-star luxury that one can only find in a hotel.

The upstairs living area is bright and open with glass doors leading out onto a new decking area and revamped balcony – perfect for entertaining. Neutral styling with earthy undertones allows larger furnishing and eclectic pieces to stand out. Take the stunning stone wall behind the fireplace for instance; this rustic wood heater is now a statement piece drawing your eyes up towards the high ceiling and becoming one with the structured beams. This is a space where detail and design are infinite.
